THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS

Admission to Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School is open to students from grades 9-12. The admission policy is to seek and accept students who can benefit from an academically rigorous dual curriculum consisting of Judaic and General Studies. Students entering ninth grade and transfer students are given support by our guidance department and faculty members to help facilitate an easy transition into high school.

Parents requesting information, wishing to make an appointment for a tour of the school or arranging to have a student visit the school for a full day should contact Mrs. Fran Glajchen at 973-597-1115 X 1194 or e-mail her at fglajchen@rkyhs.org.

Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School utilizes the following criteria in accepting new students. First, students are required to take the BJE examination in order to determine developmental and academic readiness. Secondly, we require student records and principal recommendation, which assist in indicating how a child has been performing in his/her school. Thirdly, in order to get a complete picture of the child, we require a parent and student interview. Upon completion of these three steps, the associate principal and principal meet to discuss each individual child and make their decision of acceptance. Finally, all applicants before making their decision to attend Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School are strongly encouraged to spend a full day attending classes.

Letters of acceptance along with registration forms will be sent out to students and parents by mid-February. Upon receipt of the student registration form, along with an enrollment deposit of $500, a contract from the business office will be mailed to the family.

FINANCIAL AID PROGRAM

Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School has a Financial Aid Program to offer assistance to families that demonstrate a financial need. The program uses guidelines to offer grants on an equitable basis to qualified families. Guidelines take into consideration the family’s income and available net assets. Special consideration may be given to unusual circumstances.

Financial aid is granted on an annual basis. It is essential to submit an early application as grants are issued on a needs basis and as funds are available. Please note that it is necessary to submit an application for admission and be accepted into the Yeshiva prior to receiving a Financial Aid Application.

The school’s Financial Aid Committee oversees the Financial Aid Program. All applications and financial information are handled with high standards of confidentiality. Confidentiality on the part of both the school and parents is a key element of the program. Information about our financial assistance program is available through our business office.
